The Mission of the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) is to provide the highest level of safety, and to protect public health and the environment from toxic harm. The DTSC regulates hazardous waste, cleans-up existing contamination, and looks for ways to reduce the hazardous waste produced in California.
The EWG helps "expose threats to your health and the environment, and to find solutions." The topics covered on the web site include agriculture, drinking water, transportation, and others pertinent subjects.
