- In September 2007, Metro Health Hospital opened its doors to a new, 208-bed hospital in Wyoming, Michigan. - A 48,500 sq ft green roof with approximately 80% of patient rooms overlooking the roof.
- Rain garden landscaping with native vegetation is also present on site, to help filter pollution and impurities out of storm water.
- Low-flow toilets and waterless urinals help to conserve precious water resources.
- Motion sensitive lighting reduces energy consumption.
- Low-VOC paints, sealants and adhesives were used during construction, to ensure healthy indoor air quality for patients.
- Carpeting with recycled content can be found throughout the entire hospital.
